End of an Era

June 1, 2009

Scrapbook Destination closed its doors on Satuday, May 31. We’d like to thank all of our loyal customers. We truly did appreciate every dollar you spent with us, and we enjoyed being part of your hobby. We look forward to staying in contact with you through our newest venture, “Crafters’ Flea Market.” We’ll be modeling it on our popular Garage Sales, and including additional crafts: Yarn Crafts, Quilting & Sewing, Beading… Look for news in our e-mails! You can sign up for our e-mails at www.yourscrapbookdestination.com.

Memorial Day

May 22, 2009

Scrapbook Destination will be closed on Memorial Day. We’ll reopen on Tuesday, 10-6. Join us for the final week of bargains!

Inventory now 50% off

May 20, 2009

It’s time to go to the next level– store inventory is now 50% off, with the same exceptions as before: discount not good on the Silhouette, samples (except cards & layouts), and clearance-priced merchandise.

There are still fixtures, too, available on a cash-only basis: 30- slot paper racks for $60, acrylic paper trays for slat or pegboard, $.75 each, and plenty of slat wall. There are also a small fridge, a microwave, a photo printer, a stereo, the album wall (see last post), and the front and back counters.

We have plenty of stock left to sell, too, including “store use” tools and items that we’ve priced to sell. Come take a look!

Sad News…

May 6, 2009

I regret to announce that Scrapbook Destination will be closing its doors by the end of May. We are truly grateful to you, our customers, for your support and patronage. Unfortunately, the current economic climate makes it impossible for us to stay in business; the entire inventory is on sale 25% off (except a few items–see the store for details).

Beginning Saturday, May 9, all fixtures are for sale as well, including paper racks and fixtures, slat wall and hooks, grid panels and hooks, and assorted office equipment, stereo, tables, and more. All items are first-come, first-served; fixtures must be paid for at time of purchase, and those in use will be held until later in the month, as they are cleared and become available for removal. We will also be selling many of the fabulous samples you’ve admired in the store.

We will no longer be taking coupons as of today, and all sales are final. We are going to make an effort to contact the holder of every outstanding gift card; those cards are good as long as we have inventory to sell, and good on in-stock merchandise only. All $15 Frequent Buyer coupons will also be honored as long as we have merchandise to sell, but purchases will no longer accumulate toward reward. Accumulations of less than $200 cannot be redeemed for a reward; I hope you’ll understand, since the program was always free and intended to benefit you, our customer.

If you have special orders outstanding, we are continuing to pursue those. You’re welcome to check in with us regarding the status of your order; if you are unable to wait we’re happy to refund your payment.

We are going forward with the Garage Sale on May 16 & 17; if you’d like to sign up for a table ($10 for a full table, $5 for a half table), we will be giving the proceeds as half cash, rather than 100% as a gift card.

Again, we thank you for your patronage these last two years; although I am sad to bring this chapter of my life to an end, I am glad to have been able to serve all of you. The staff and I will miss you, and we regret that there isn’t another independent store between Colorado Springs and Northglenn. I wish that circumstances didn’t require us to close. We hope to see you all in the coming weeks; we are expanding our hours during the closeout sale to 10 AM to 7 PM Monday, 10 AM to 6 PM Tuesday-Saturday, and 11 AM to 5 PM Sunday in order make it easier for you to shop during those hours.

Nesting Dies from QuicKutz

April 21, 2009

Q:  What are they and why would you want them?

A:  Well QK Nesting dies are a set of dies in one shape that come in graduated sizes.  They are the perfect thing to reach for when you need just the right size circle, oval or square, they are great to use on card fronts for a window, because you can place it right where you want it to go with the sticky mat.  Nesting dies are also really handy because you can use up your scraps with them and that’s exactly what I did in this layout,  I had several scraps of a coordinating line that I just ran through my Revolution with the egg nesting dies and Voila, instant embellishments!

QK Tip:  Add a little dimension to your nested shapes with foam squares!

Don’t forget selected Nesting Dies are on sale through Friday for 17.99!

1-309-march-frenzy

Spring is definately in the air here in Colorado – can you FEEL it! Seriously, it might as well be summer already – *sigh*.

What better thing to do than to join us for our March Spring Frenzy on Saturday! Bring out your friends and make a day of it. A perfect time to get those cards made for Spring. We even have a coffee card to make with one of the images from “Changito” by Stampendous – everyone has been asking for that cute little monkey! Christyn has yet another fabulous installment of her monthly calendar layouts. You should see her “March” page! And of course Angela will join us to make a Bella card.

Date: Saturday, March 7th
Time: 10am-1p & 1:30pm-4:30pm

No appointment necessary. You can come/go as you wish. Each project carries a small fee. Make as many or as few as you like.

See you on Saturday!

Creative cheers,
Rachel

Go Vertical!

February 25, 2009

Looking to try something new? Make a vertical two-page layout. That’s right, instead of lining up your pages side by side, try stacking one on top of the other. The layout below is composed of two 11″ X 8.5″ pages stacked vertically:

robo-sapien-vivian-masket

You can stack two 12″ X 12″ pages vertically, two 8.5″ X 11″ pages vertically, or do something I’ve been wanting to try: make a really long and narrow layout by stacking two 6″ X 12″ pages vertically. If you try vertical stacking and post to an online gallery, link us in the comments section here so we can see what you did!

For the holidays coming up, of course! There are so many opportunities for fun and photos with all of your friends and family in the next month. Make sure that in all the hustle and bustle that you slow down and try to capture the small things. Take a picture of your favorite ornament. Capture the moment that your child opens his favorite gift. Don’t forget to get some pictures of those annual traditions…new jammies, your favorite foods, or making a gingerbread house.

Last year, my boys made their first gingerbread house. I hope that it will be the first of many.
