Looking to try something new? Make a vertical two-page layout. That’s right, instead of lining up your pages side by side, try stacking one on top of the other. The layout below is composed of two 11″ X 8.5″ pages stacked vertically:

You can stack two 12″ X 12″ pages vertically, two 8.5″ X 11″ pages vertically, or do something I’ve been wanting to try: make a really long and narrow layout by stacking two 6″ X 12″ pages vertically. If you try vertical stacking and post to an online gallery, link us in the comments section here so we can see what you did!

I watch so many customers see a beautiful piece of paper and say ‘it’s so pretty…how would I it…I don’t want to cover it up’. I designed this sketch with those papers in mind. Plenty of room to show off the paper, plus room for 4 photos and embellishments.

and speaking of beautiful papers…have you seen the new SEI Mimosa line in person? If not, you need to take a trip to the store to see it, no photos can do it justice. All of the papers have a varnish to them and the colors are so bright and beautiful.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Welcome to a new week, I hope you are one of the lucky ones with a long weekend and have some time to get in some extra scrapping time. Here’s the sketch for this week
the cooler weather this week had me thinking back to the warmed summer days so I decided to scrap photos from one of those days.

Happy Crafting!

OK, so don’t we wish it were Spring already!? I don’t know about you but I sure am ready to see ‘green’ again, flowers sprouting, long walks in the ’sun’ – all things spring-like.

I’m sure you know that the above Basic Grey Porcelain and Marrakesh paper is in the store. We now have the BG Paper Packs, Paper Pads as well as the Brads to match! Time to start working on those lovely Spring layouts, invites, etc.

But WAIT, there’s more, look what rolled into the store yesterday. The new lines from SEI: Bridgeport and Mimosa. You have to see these in person because they are fabulous!

Complete the look with rubons, acrylic stamps, flowers, chipboard elements, etc.

I can also see the packaging for these items being ‘repurposed’ as altered treat boxes or other altered items.
Happy weekend!
Creative cheers,
Rachel

It is no secret that I love to scrap about the love of my life. When I scrap about him, I can reflect on all of the things that made me fall in love with him and those things that keep our love strong. Sometimes it is fun to make a page all about him (like the one above). But mostly I like to do pages about the two of us. This one I made on the occasion of our 11th anniversary. I used a fun journaling technique of using numbers to drive my journaling points.

Or if your love it too big to contain in one layout…try a mini album! I made this one using the bind-it-all. I chose the theme “This is us…” from one of my favorite songs. Each page has journaling that begins with “This is us…” and tells about a different time or event on our lives as a couple. It is one of my favorite projects of all time.

Now go scrap your love and have some fun!

Why do the weekends seem to go faster than any other days? It was great to see so many people at the frenzy yesterday, hopefully you had time to finish the great projects by writing your words of love in your valentines. I decided to change things up just a bit in sketch land this week and do a sketch for an 8.5×11 landscape page.

I like to work with this size when I have a single photo and journaling that I want to focus on. Once the main page is done I find a coordinating paper and mount the page so it becomes a 12×12 page that matches the other layouts in my album.

Have a wonderful week!
Happy crafting!

Love is in the air! Need something special for the valentine in your life? How about unique ways to package those conversation hearts for your kid’s parties at school? Or even something to ask that important question? It’s okay ladies, you can encourage your men to come along too. After all, something homemade is something from the heart.
We will have a variety of projects to choose from. Make it a day out with your friends. From cards, to a layout, to unique ways to package gifties, etc, you pick what you want to make. Each project will carry a small fee.
See you tomorrow, Saturday, February 7th!
Time: 10am-1pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm
Happy friday, happy weekend!
Creative cheers,
Rachel

I first tried this design trick out for a journaling challenge, but it was so much fun, I incorporated it again soon after. Because this works best with a large title, and one that you can easily cut, I used my SLICE to cut out the letters (works best with one or two words), using a large size (I used 4 inches on the “Coat” layout and i think a 2.5 for the MLE title). Place the letters on top of each other, then make a horizontal cut straight through the middle of the letters. Arrange them with a slight gap, then write your journaling right through the title. It creates a really fun look, adding a surprise element to your design.
